Subject: Will Members of Congress Use the Health Care Plan That They
Vote For?
Members of Congress currently have a gold-plated health care plan
for which they pay very little. Louisiana Congressman and physician
John Fleming thinks that it is only right that Congress be subject
to the same plan that it believes is best for the rest of us. Or as
he puts it, he wants to give: "Congress an opportunity to put
their money where their mouth is."
In service of that goal, he had put forward
House Resolution 615 where:
"Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that
Members who vote in favor of the establishment of a public,
federal government run health insurance option are urged to
forgo their right to participate in the Federal Employees Health
Benefits Program (FEHBP) and agree to enroll under that public
option."

resolution. If your Representative is not on the list, write to them
and ask why, telling them you expect their participation. You might
also write letters to the editor of your local paper, letting others
in your area know that some or all of your State Representatives have
not signed up to receive the same health care they promote as good
enough for the rest of us.
Let your Senators know that you expect the same from them as well!
