Schloss Stolzenfels - 1833:    Rhine River Cruise

On this site there was originally a 13th century fortress which burned down in 1688. The property was later bought by the future king Friedrich Wilhelm IV. The current castle was designed by the famous Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel and was constructed from 1833-1845. Today, the building is used as a museum.
